Job Description

Reporting to the President and in collaboration with the Sales Coordinator and other members of the sales and executive team, the Account Executive is a key contributor to the company’s future growth strategy and ongoing success of the business. In this newly created role, the Account Executive is responsible for expanding and generating new business opportunities across North America and requires an experienced professional who brings a proven track record of success in revenue generation and customer service excellence.


Our client is a CleanTech and manufacturing company with proven product lines based in Kamloops, BC. Their expertise lies in developing critical low-carbon and carbon sequestering solutions using our owned mineral assets and recycled materials to create planet-friendly products that fight climate change and protect our planet’s health. Their products are in 10,000+ retail stores across North America, and their innovations bring positive disruption to the cement, agricultural and animal-care sectors by creating products that help reduce carbon footprints and restore ecosystems.


This role can be done remote out of Ontario with 30% travel required.


Responsibilities


Sales

  • Achieves sales goals as determined by management.
  • Prospects for new business, including making cold calls.
  • Networks for sales opportunities.
  • Focuses on up-selling and cross-selling products to existing and prospective clients.
  • Creates demand for new products in new markets and influences customers to win business in new segments.
  • Takes part in trade shows to generate sales leads.
  • Foster and build long standing relationships with new and existing customers to maximize profitably, and grow sales.
  • Develop and execute strategies, tactics and details of a comprehensive sales plan.
  • Maintain awareness of industry competitors and best practices; provide insight on trends and future strategies for long term growth.
  • Manage leads, quotes and sales process to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service experience – every time.
  • Be an advocate for health and safety within the organization.


Research/ Processes

  • Identifies prospects and qualifies or disqualifies them aggressively.
  • Meets with (prospective) customers to determine specific requirements; provides information on appropriate products.
  • Documents new accounts according to company’s sales policy.
  • Connects with customers through social media, including making connections on LinkedIn.
  • Creates and updates CRM records daily.
  • Contributes to marketing efforts on an as needed basis.


Qualifications


Education

  • Bachelor or masters degree in science (chemistry or biology) considered an asset.
  • Formal education in Agriculture, an Industrial setting, or the Retail industry (as appropriate) considered an asset.


Experience

  • A minimum 5 years of outside sales experience.
  • Proven previous results growing an account base or territory with expertise in new business development strategies/ tactics.
  • Experience presenting products to feed stores, hardware, agriculture, retail or pet distributors an asset.
  • Proven negotiation experience, demonstrating an understanding of the difference between revenue vs profit.
  • Proficient with personal computers, using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as CRM.


Skills and Abilities

  • Solid grasp of appropriate vertical market segment.
  • Self motivated with a proven record prospecting for new business through cold calls (over phone/ in person).
  • Aptitude for upselling commodity products with a value-added component.
  • Professional communication skills; confident making appointments and closing sales by telephone.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time and workload efficiently; well organized.
  • Strong problem solver able to engage well developed analytical skills to address challenges with effective solutions.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within changing demands.
  • Ability to obtain/ maintain credit card, to be used for expenses and booking hotels, airfare, etc.
  • Ensures all work is conducted in an ethical and prudent manner.
  • Willing and able to travel when necessary (must have a valid driver's license and passport).
